Investigation results

This museum has 4 objects with a potentially problematic provenance.

Result of this investigation

The museum reports that a number of forks it received as a gift have problematic provenance. The great-grandmother of the person who gave them had taken them for safekeeping during the Second World War from a Jewish woman who did not return after the war.
The museum investigated at Regionaal Archief Rivierenland and in its own archive. Apart from this gift, the origins of its objects are documented or, as far as is known at the museum, are without problematic provenance.
The entire inventory of Tiel’s synagogue was retrieved and is now part of the museum collection. This was arranged after consulting reports of a Jewish historical society (Joods Historische Werkgroep) and after discussions with particular members.
