Explanation

A label on the reverse of the painting states: ‘OFFICE SUISSE DE COMPENSATION Service de la liquidation des biens allemands No. 0039’. This body supervised property of German companies and organisations in Switzerland after 1945.
Inscribed on the back of the frame is: Roselh 438.
