No information is available regarding the collection in The Hague to which this painting belonged or who consigned it to Frederik Muller auction house for sale. The work was sold for 3,100 guilders to a painting restorer and art dealer called Dik Sr. He had worked at Jacques Goudstikker’s gallery, as had C. Croes, whose son R. Croes donated it to the museum.
