As of 31 December 2018 there is no active provenance research as part of Museums Acquisitions from 1933 onwards. However, provenance research always continues. Because gradually more sources are digitally available, new information about the origin of collection can be added. The Museums Association and its members work together to maintain a database as complete as possible to inform original owners, their heirs and the public correctly. For updates, please contact Bente Bergmans, quality advisor (firstname.lastname@example.org / 020-5512900).
On 16 April 2018 a binding opinion by the Restitions Committee was issued. It advises Museum de Fundatie (the Stichting Hannema-de Stuers Fundatie) to restitute the sculpture ‘Moses’, attributed to Alessandro Vittoria, to the legal successors of its former owner.
