EYE Film Instituut Nederland
Investigation results
None of the objects in this museum have problematic provenance.
Result of this investigation
The museum declined to take part in the investigation explaining that it acquired its collection of films, film posters, photos, apparatus, archives, books and publicity material after the Second World War. Museum staff know the origins of these objects, most having been received from film distributors, filmmakers and collectors. The objects are a major cultural historical asset, although of little financial value. It is not the material of film that has value, but its potential for commercial exploitation. Given the nature of the collection and the staff’s thorough knowledge of its provenance, the museum states categorically that it does not fall within the parameters of the investigation.
