Result of this investigation

Museum Kranenburgh has done provenance research in the museum collection in 2016 and 2017. Some objects have an incomplete provenance and have a gap in iets provenance during the years 1933 - 1945. In 1969 the municipality of Bergen acquired a porfolio of 132 drawings by Mommie Schwarz. It is unknown from whom they were bought and how that person acquired them.

About this museum and its collection

Work by artists of the Bergen School forms the core of the Kranenburgh collection. Other painters, sculptors and graphic artists who were not associated with Bergen and did not live there are also represented. Among those whose works are presented are Leo Gestel, Arnout Colnot, Dirk Filarski, Piet and Matthieu Wiegman, Else Berg and Mommie Schwarz.
