Marie Tak van Poortvliet Museum
Investigation results
None of the objects in this museum have problematic provenance.
Result of this investigation
The museum reports that investigators found no problematic acquisitions after separating all items made after 1945 and items bought from their original owner or a direct heir. The museum bought the remaining items, especially work early twentieth-century artists in the region, from local dealers who acquired these locally or bought at auction in Middelburg. The museum never bought at SNK auctions.
About this museum and its collection
Founded in 1995, the museum is named after art collector, anthroposophist and agricultural pioneer Marie Tak van Poortvliet (1871-1936) and is designed as a replica of an exhibition built in 1921 and subsequently lost in wind and storms. The museum focuses on the life and work of contemporary artists connected to Zeeland, as well as the Domburg artists colony.
