Investigation results

None of the objects in this museum have problematic provenance.

Result of this investigation

The museum declined to take part in the investigation since none of the objects in its collection has individually identifiable characteristics. The museum reports as follows: ‘Founded in 1908, Westland Museum’s painting collection contained several works by Anton van Teijn (1863-1943), a native of Naaldwijk and of Jewish descent. Van Teijn sold several works to the museum and donated a number. He lent one painting in 1935. It remains uncertain whether he ever turned this into a sale or gift. The painting is now in Historisch Archief Westland. Anton van Teijn died of natural causes in 1943.’

About this museum and its collection

The museum surveys the history of Westland, focusing on Westland’s greenhouse agriculture, from prehistoric times to the present day. The historical garden features a reconstruction of a Westland greenhouse company around 1900, cultivating products that were once common in Westland in traditional ways, including local greenhouse grape varieties, peaches, plums and asparagus. The museum also holds demonstration auctions.
